Saints agree major sponsorship deal

ST JOHNSTONE yesterday announced a lucrative sponsorship deal with national house builder George Wimpey Plc.

The three-year deal will see the company’s name and logo advertised at McDiarmid Park, and Saints chairman Geoff Brown expressed his delight at securing the backing of the company.

“I am delighted that George Wimpey has chosen to become involved with St Johnstone FC as its main sponsor,” he said.

“Sponsorship is a very important part of the club’s commercial activities and, with other advertising opportunities, George Wimpey’s name and logo will feature prominently at McDiarmid and this should benefit the company who are looking to increase their profile in our area.”

Andy Wyles, managing director for George Wimpey East Scotland Ltd, added, “We are delighted to be supporting a local football club within our operating area that’s forward thinking and achieving success in Scottish football.

“It’s our ambition that our three-year sponsorship with St Johnstone will help us to become part of the local community in Perthshire, whilst also raising the profile of the George Wimpey brand and our future developments throughout the area in the coming years.”

The actual amount of the sponsorship deal was not disclosed.
