DUNDEE’S CENTRE for Study and Research yesterday held a seminar discussing poverty in both Dundee and Bangladesh. Participants spoke about how poverty affects the population and compared both Dundee and Bangladesh’s experiences. Iqbal Mostafa, director of the centre for study and research, said he wants to promote “harmony through dialogue”. “We also want to create a sense of belonging in the Bangladesh community of Dundee, and we want to help to integrate them,” he said. Ina Paton, from Dundee’s Kiddie Kare project, spoke about how Kiddie Kare provides support to single parents and families on income support. Mr Mostafa said, “We are trying to learn lessons from Kiddie Kare to see how we can help with Bangladeshi families and are learning how we can work to promote an anti-poverty campaign in Bangladesh.” *Our picture shows Ina Paton with Iqbal Mostafa yesterday.
