EuroMillions win for staff syndicate WORKERS INVOLVED in a Fife cable manufacturer’s lottery syndicate have been celebrating after scooping a windfall in a recent EuroMillions draw. The 32-strong group at Brand-Rex in Glenrothes matched all five of the main numbers in Friday, March 31’s game to win £71,159.60. Members of the customer services syndicate will receive just over £2223 each and are making plans on how to spend their cash, with holidays, cars and home improvements topping their shopping lists. Unlike many other work-based syndicates, the group don’t choose a regular pattern of numbers and opted for a lucky dip last week. Friday’s winning ticket was purchased at the David Sands store in Thornton, where syndicate leader Lindsey Skene lives. Lindsey (33) said she was “over the moon” for the group and is now dreaming of what to do with her share of the unexpected winnings. “We’ve been running this syndicate for about four years and have tried various strategies,” she explained. “We’ve changed members and syndicate leaders, and recently started playing EuroMillions because of the big jackpots.” Lindsey added that she plans to jet off to Melbourne, Australia, to visit ex-colleague Catherine Ritchie, who will no doubt be delighted to see her friend reaping the benefits of the works syndicate she started four years ago. Another syndicate member, Karen Nisbet, said she plans to make her wedding in Dunfermline on June 10 even happier thanks to the cash boost. Karen and fiance Mark are now planning to splash out on a honeymoon in the Dominican Republic. The EuroMillions draw, which is also open to players in Austria, Belgium, France, the Republic of Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland, is proving more and more popular throughout the UK —often due to the large jackpot prizes on offer. Last Friday’s numbers were 3, 20, 31, 48 and 50, with Lucky Star numbers 6 and 7. Today there is an estimated £10 million EuroMillions jackpot—while Saturday’s Lotto jackpot is an estimated £5 million. |
