Second look at probing artworks display

Museum assistant Graham Ritchie takes a close look at one of the artworks.

METHIL HERITAGE Centre has been playing host to an exhibition retelling the stories behind some of the finest paintings on display at Kirkcaldy Museum and Art Gallery.

Art Detectives originally toured schools and community venues during 2004 on Fife Council’s museum and arts coach.

Such was its popularity, the local authority decided to give people another chance to see it.

The interactive exhibition invites visitors to become art detectives and discover the techniques used to tell stories in Victorian times.

In addition to the activities for the adults, there are also children’s activities on offer with the chance to dress up in Victorian costumes, a giant jigsaw, a gallery wall to draw on and fun activity sheets.

The Art Detectives exhibition coincides with a new display entitled Not Forgotten, in the centre’s tea room.

It marks the 90th anniversary of the death of local man Robert Dunsire, who was awarded the Victoria Cross before he was killed in action on January 30, 1916.

The display can be visited before April 15.
