THE INVESTIGATION into the death of former Dundee business man Alex Brown in Majorca continued yesterday, preventing Spanish authorities from providing a timeframe for a postponed funeral. Last night his son Christopher, currently at the family home in Majorca with his mother Margote and brother Nicholas, told The Courier that since the Guardia Civil in Palma postponed his father’s cremation service last Thursday, the family had received very little information. “We have not been given any indication of when we can rearrange the service,” he said. “There is not much to say. The authorities have told us that they are continuing with their investigation.” Mr Brown’s body was found on the beach near his yacht at Port Soller on the north-west coast on Sunday, April 2. However, discrepancies over the contents of police reports handed over to the Guardia Civil in Soller led to the case being passed on to the Guardia Civil in Palma for further investigation, fuelling suspicions that Mr Brown may have been murdered. Initial reports suggested Mr Brown had closed his bar, The Pacific, in Port Soller at around 1.30 on the morning of his death. The authorities understand that, instead of driving home he had gone to his yacht, where it was believed he later drowned. Last night, the Guardia Civil in Palma would only confirm their investigation was ongoing. They were unable to say when Mr Brown’s body would be available for the family to carry out a cremation service. |
