From Aberfeldy to the palace

A PERTHSHIRE woman enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime experience yesterday among the Queen’s guests for lunch.

Lilias Morrison of Aberfeldy had been keenly anticipating the event for people who shared the Queen’s birthday since the invitation popped through her letterbox, her son Norman said.

“My mother was asked if she would like to put her name in a ballot for the lunch some time ago and was delighted to be picked out,” he explained.

“She was very proud to be involved in the celebrations and was certainly looking forward to it.

“It is a obviously a really rare opportunity.

“She has always been aware that her birthday coincides with the Queen’s and the lunch was a nice gesture.”

A total of five 79-year-old Scots attended.

“It is a bit of a thrill for my mother and no doubt for all of those involved,” Mr Morrison added.
