MORE THAN 50 years of loyal service behind the scenes at Tannadice Park was recognised on Saturday when TV celebrity Lorraine Kelly presented a framed certificate to unsung Dundee United hero Stan Frew. The “acknowledgement of achievement” certificate was awarded by the Dundee United Business Club to Stan, who oversees the distribution of the match programme. The presentation was made on the pitch shortly before kick-off at United’s SPL match against Falkirk. Tom Cairns, chairman of the business club, said, “Stan Frew is a long-time and much-respected club servant who gives his all for the football club. “Stan has, over the past 50 plus years, fulfilled a variety of roles within the club. He is known throughout Scottish football as a loyal and hardworking Arab, the type of man all football clubs require in the background. “Although he knew about the presentation, he didn’t know beforehand that Lorraine, who is another of his admirers, had agreed to present him with the certificate.” |
