4000 off marks to fill race places

ORGANISERS OF this year’s Race For Life in Dundee have praised the “amazing support” shown by the city. All 4000 places have been filled six weeks before the event takes place.

Women who want to raise money for Cancer Research UK by taking part in a Race For Life event have been told that they will now have to travel to Perth on May 21 or Aberdeen on June 25 instead.

The Dundee race—the biggest ever in the city—will take place at Camperdown Park on Sunday June 18.

Olivia Carruthers, Dundee’s race organiser, said, “I’m absolutely delighted that this year’s race has been so popular. I hope that all those women who have a place are looking forward to the day and are well on their way to raising lots of sponsorship to help us reach our £130,000 target.”

Race For Life is a five-kilometre event for women of all ages and fitness levels.

A total of 230 races will be taking place across the UK over the coming weeks, with around 750,000 runners taking part. Women interested in registering for the events in Perth or Aberdeen should visit www.raceforlife.org
