Harrods comes to Forfar FORFAR’S horticultural version of the Harrods sale drew the crowds again at the weekend. Each year the doors at Forfar’s Guide Centre in The Myre are kept firmly closed to early arrivals at the National Council for the Conservation of Plants and Gardens’ (NCCPG) annual plant sale until the official opening time of 10.30 am. Saturday saw the usual build-up of eager visitors, who came from near and far, and around 60 keen gardeners were in the queue when the doors opened and they flooded into a hall packed with rare and interesting specimens from gardens in Tayside, Fife, and Grampian. The Grampian and Tayside group of the NCCPG, which organises the sale, once again recorded takings of more than £1000 in the first hour of business. |
