KIDNAPPED COW Fruit Smooothie has come home to rejoin the herd. Dunfermline youngster Kathryn Pennel had designed the bovine for Lloyds TSB Scotland’s cow in Edinburgh CowParade. In the middle of May, 94 cows appeared overnight in the capital, including Kathryn’s fruit-adorned cow. However, within days of Fruit Smooothie being put out to graze outside the bank’s Hanover Street branch, she had been stolen, leaving Kathryn devastated as she had not even had time to visit her special cow. Happily, Fruit Smooothie did turn up four days after disappearing, but she was missing a leg. However, CowParade organisers took her in to the cow hospital for some treatment and tender loving care and she is now back on display—but this time will be staying inside the branch. Bank director Manus Fullerton, who painted Kathryn’s design onto the fibreglass cow, said, “It’s great to have her back. We’ve put her inside the branch where she should be much safer. “All of us at Lloyds TSB Scotland are very grateful to CowParade for helping to find her and restore her to her former glory. Queen Anne High pupil Kathryn added, “I never got a chance to see her before she went missing, so now I’m really happy. “She looked fantastic and it’s really hard to tell which leg is the new one.” A CowParade spokesman said, “We’re delighted that Fruit Smooothie is back on display for the public. We’re sure she’ll be much sought after at the Cowparade Auction on September 7 at Ocean Terminal.” |
