OVER 200 children from across Scotland descended on the grounds of Scone Palace yesterday to take part in the Scottish Schools’ Orienteering Championships. The first time this event has been held at the venue, the finishing line had the historic palace as a backdrop. Senior primary school and secondary pupils took part in the event. Scottish age group champion Hollie Orr won the senior title. Her school, Douglas Academy, Milngavie, won five individual titles and three out of six of the secondary team titles. Results: Secondary, girls S5/6—H. Orr (Douglas Academy); S4—N. Ferguson (Douglas Academy); S3—J. Orr (Douglas Academy); S2—K. Maxwell (Jedburgh); S1—E. Aitken (Perth High). Boys, S5/6— A. Forrester (Biggar); S4—Hendry/Harley (Douglas Academy); S3—T. Ryan (Holyrood, Edinburgh); S2—D. Newlands (Douglas Academy); S1—A. Lindsay (Craigmount, Edinburgh). Primary, girls P7—E. Young (Robert Owen, Lanark); 5/6—K. Maxwell (Parkside, Jedburgh). Boys P7—Painter/Souter (Letham); 5/6—P. Ryan (St John’s, Portobello). |
