Reception for volunteers

A CIVIC reception was given to mark the 10th annual volunteer conference of the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS).

Perth Provost Bob Scott hosted the event on Saturday at Perth Concert Hall.

“We have almost 800 volunteers throughout Scotland of all ages and skills who give their time freely to support the children and their families who use our children’s hospice services,” said Ros Scott, head of voluntary services for CHAS.

“Our volunteers gave us 73,000 hours last year and the contribution they make is absolutely vital.”

Scotland has three services for children and young people with life-limiting conditions, all run by CHAS. These are Rachel House in Kinross, which opened in 1996; Robin House in Balloch at Loch Lomond; and the Inverness-based Rachel House At Home service which supports children and their families in the north of Scotland.
