Perthshire to push produce at show

A NEW food and drink guide is to be launched with the intention of putting Perthshire and Kinross-shire produce at the top of the menu at this year’s Royal Highland Show.

The Perthshire Produce Guide, originally brought out by the Perth and Kinross Agricultural Forum in 1999, has been revamped and will be unveiled at the opening next Thursday by the council’s enterprise and infrastructure convener Alan Livingstone.

This year’s show is being hosted by Perthshire, Kinross-shire and Fife, headed by the president, the Earl of Lindsay.

The president’s initiative will be Buy Local, Eat Local, highlighting the food and drink produced in the three areas. This will be promoted in a centrepiece stand in the show’s food and drink exhibition hall.

The stand will feature a delicatessen, cooking area and an information point. Local producers and chefs will be on hand to demonstrate and explain the nutritional benefits of fresh, locally produced food.

The Perthshire Produce Guide promotes businesses in Perthshire and Kinross-shire who produce quality local items.
