Where the buffalo burgers roam

VISITORS TO an agricultural show in Kinross-shire later this summer would be entitled to think they have stumbled into the Wild West.

Buffalo will be roaming at the Kinross Show—after being imported from the wilds of neighbouring Fife.

Although more commonly seen in North America, the animals will be one of the more bizarre attractions at the event in August.

The beasts have been reared by Steven Mitchell, of Clentrie Farm, near Kirkcaldy.

A recent winner of the National Farmers Union young achiever award, Steven set up his Puddledub Buffalo firm 18 months ago.

He now sells the buffalo beef directly to farmers’ markets throughout Scotland and is looking to expand into the production of milk and buffalo mozzarella cheese and ice cream.

Organisers insist brave visitors will get the chance to pat the visiting buffalo and—of course—can spend the day munching on buffalo burgers.
