DUNDEE UNIVERSITY’S Botanic Garden last night hosted an open-air production of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The performance was a sell-out and featured a large ensemble cast dressed in magnificent Elizabethan costume and an enchanting original music score.

Throngs of spectators turned up with picnic hampers and rugs to enjoy the performance by Chapterhouse Theatre Company, which has toured throughout Great Britain for the past seven years, performing classical drama and comedy at stately homes, castles and gardens.

From a first year of performances at some 30 venues with Romeo And Juliet, the Chapterhouse Company has established itself as one of the most successful and acclaimed touring companies in the country.

In previous years the company has toured with a variety of plays including Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Twelfth Night and Much Ado About Nothing together with performances such as The Mystery Plays and Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland.
