By Graeme Cleland The sun shone on the garden party held to mark the opening of the new Duntrune demonstration gardens in Dundee at the weekend. Although officially opened by Councillor Chris Hind last week, Saturday’s event was organised to introduce the community to the much-changed site. There is a therapeutic garden area, a kitchen garden, as well as allotments and areas laid out as the different parts of a typical domestic garden. A range of stalls was available to allow visitors to try activities such as wine-tasting, view a bee-hive and even take a ride on a horse-drawn carriage. The city council has invested £160,000 in the new garden as part of a strategy to encourage more people into the city’s parks. |
