McInnes ready to leave United

DEREK McINNES will today cut his ties with Dundee United after player and club reached agreement on a severance package.

The midfielder will be freed up to join either St Mirren or St Johnstone.

As Courier Sport reported last week, McInnes and Grant Brebner were always likely to be the first of the ones who have been told they can leave to actually do so.

And Brebner, who is in Australia on trial with Melbourne Victory, is next in line to settle up and the Tangerines do not expect him back at Tannadice.

The three remaining unwanted players—Jim McIntyre, David Fernandez and Paul Ritchie—are all expected to report for work this morning when United return for pre-season training.

The likelihood is that they will train away from the first-team squad.
