POLICE HAVE identified the victim of the drowning accident at Cellardyke on Friday.

Mr David Brown, of Seabreeze, Shore Street, had been out in the creel boat he regularly sailed from the harbour when the accident occurred.

Although Mr Brown (64) had been spotted at the side of the boat, and a rescue operation was launched, he could not be saved.

Mr Brown, a widower, was a retired teacher who had formerly been involved in working with the community council.

He had a number of family members living in the area.
