A DUNDEE woman who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in the last stages of her pregnancy raised £1000 from a sponsored walk across the Tay Road Bridge on Saturday. Lyndsey Tinney (30) was seven months pregnant when doctors discovered she had a benign growth the size of a golf ball behind her right eye. Thankfully, Lyndsey’s pregnancy continued without any major problems, and son Gary, who is now six months old, was born without any hitches. Lyndsey then underwent an operation to remove the tumour. Now, she intends to repay neurosurgery ward 23b staff by embarking on a fund-raising crusade. The walk was the first in a series of events Lyndsey has planned. Lyndsey said, “There were about 25 friends and family members taking part, and we had a great day as the weather was fabulous. “At the start of the walk we had raised about £850, but by the time we got to the other side, it had turned into £1000 as people kept saying they’d received more money.” If anybody would like to make a donation, or get involved, contact Lyndsey on 01382 624584 or on lyndsey.tinney@ btinternet.com Lyndsey is pictured with partner Garry Kelly, and her family Gary jnr, Paige (left), Kharis (right), along with her supporters. |
