Seeking support for pageant

ORGANISERS of this year’s Kirkcaldy Pageant have urged local people to support the annual Beveridge Park event.

The 2006 showpiece is due to take place on the August 12/13 weekend, with the usual attractions and stalls on show throughout.

However, organisers fear a lack of interest from the public and want more people to get involved.

The pageant normally starts with a procession of floats from the Fife Ice Arena to the main Beveridge Park venue, with a 10k road race and a raft race among the highlights.

Despite its popularity decades ago, the pageant folded in 1979 but was brought back in recent years in a bid to boost the town’s profile.
