ORGANISERS of this year’s Kirkcaldy Pageant have urged local people to support the annual Beveridge Park event. The 2006 showpiece is due to take place on the August 12/13 weekend, with the usual attractions and stalls on show throughout. However, organisers fear a lack of interest from the public and want more people to get involved. The pageant normally starts with a procession of floats from the Fife Ice Arena to the main Beveridge Park venue, with a 10k road race and a raft race among the highlights. Despite its popularity decades ago, the pageant folded in 1979 but was brought back in recent years in a bid to boost the town’s profile. For more details or to book a place in either the 10k road race or raft race call Colin Murray on 01592 202943. |
