Bridge toll booths test before changeover

MOTORISTS FINALLY got a closer look at the Forth Road Bridge’s brand new toll booths in action yesterday morning.

Bosses at the Forth Estuary Transport Authority have spent £5 million on upgrading the toll plaza at South Queensferry.

The booths, which are capable of handling electronic tolling, are being tried out for a few hours each day this week.

Among the new features are barriers across each of the toll lanes.

A spokesman for FETA told The Courier yesterday, “Our hope is that if everything goes according to plan we’ll be able to change over within the next few days.”
