HUNDREDS OF fans queued outside Yuppies Bar last night to welcome returning hometown heroes The View for their latest “secret” show. As word of the gig spread like wildfire on Internet fans’ forums over the weekend the teenage rockers’ secret show attracted a crowd of fans to South Ward Street. By 7pm scores of music fans were lining-up four deep outside the bar as they vied for one of the gold dust tickets to see their heroes. With precious free time in recent months as The View juggernaut has gathered momentum, Steve Morrison, Pete Reilly, Kyle Falconer and Kieren Webster could have been forgiven for recharging their batteries this weekend. But in typical View style, the Dryburgh lads opted for what is fast becoming their hallmark with a secret show to reward their faithful following of Dundee fans. The show was further evidence of the band’s continued commitment to Dundee following their decision to shoot their latest video for new single Superstar Tradesman, which is due for release on October 23, in lead singer Kyle Falconer’s back garden in Dryburgh last month. The View’s celebration of all things Dundee continued with last night’s line-up as fellow Dundonians The Law, Luva Anna and The Getdowns ensured a top treat for music fans. However, after their short break, The View are back on the road on Tuesday with an extended run of dates down south as well as a whistle-stop return to Tayside on Saturday to play the Ice Factory in Perth. |
