Murder inquiry as man dies

DETECTIVES investigating an alleged serious assault on a 35-year-old man in the Abbeyview area of Dunfermline are now leading a murder inquiry.

Brian Bowie, who was left with a severe head injury and burns after the alleged attack on Saturday night, died at St John’s Hospital in Livingston yesterday.

Two men have already been charged with attempted murder at Dunfermline Sheriff Court and the procurator fiscal’s office has confirmed the case is now being treated as a murder.

Both men are expected to re-appear at the court early next week.

Senior investigation officer, DCI Rab McLaren, said, “I would like to express my sympathies to Brian’s family at this sad time for them.”
