A YOUNG Dundee girl has received a reply from 10 Downing Street after she wrote a heart-warming appeal to Prime Minister Tony Blair. In the letter, Ancrum Road Primary School pupil Kathleen Sandeman urged him not to resign as he is “being bullied by people who are not kind.” Kathleen (seven) wrote the letter last month after watching the news on television one night with her parents. It read, “Please do not leave your job. I think you are the best and you are being bullied by people who are not kind. “We are told at school to report bullies to the teacher. If you like I will tell my teacher about you. She is kind, her name is Miss McKay. “Bad things happen in the world and I know you help sort them. You are kind and helpful and always do your best. “I do not want your job, I want to be a vet and help animals.” When a reply from 10 Downing Street recently dropped through her letterbox, she was absolutely delighted. At their home in Ancrum Road, Kathleen’s father Robert said, “She was watching the news on TV and said she was going to write to Tony Blair. “I was surprised but she likes reading and writing. “She was absolutely over the moon when she received the reply back.” The reply was sent on behalf of Mr Blair by the direct communications unit and read, “The Prime Minister has asked me to thank you for your recent letter. “Mr Blair is always pleased to hear from young people and was grateful for your kind words. Mr Blair sends you his good wishes.” |
