Bluelight Discos planned for Fife

A SERIES of Bluelight Discos have been organised by Fife Police to take place over the coming weeks.

The events are alcohol and violence-free and are open to all children aged between 12 and 16.

Everyone entering is breathalysed and any person found to have alcohol, or who fails the breath test, will be taken home by police.

Fife Police spokesman PC Fraser Laird said, “Previous Bluelight Discos held over the last two Fridays in Fife have been extremely well attended and generously supported by local companies and voluntary groups.

“In Dunfermline there has been an average 13% reduction in nuisance and youth disorder calls over the nights on which 14 discos took place.

“In Lochgelly there was a 57% reduction in vandalism calls on one night and the most dramatic reduction was a 60% fall in youth-related calls in Levenmouth, following a Bluelight Disco held in the summer.”

The next disco is on Fridayat Dunfermline’s Lauder College canteen with events on January 19 and 26 in Dunfermline, Leven and Glenrothes.
