RAITH ROVERS fans are in for a treat on Tuesday when dozens of players from the club’s history return to Stark’s Park for what should prove to be a memorable reunion.
Organised by Raith Rovers’ Former Players Association, the event will take place at the Fife derby clash with Cowdenbeath and will see more than 60 former Raith stars paraded on the pitch during the half-time interval.
Tuesday’s reunion looks set to eclipse a similar occasion held at the start of this year, when around 35 former players gathered to celebrate the community-based takeover of the club.
The likes of Brian Cooper and Colin Harris have been regulars to the Kirkcaldy ground over the past couple of years and will again be in attendance, but there will be many other famous faces appearing which are sure to bring back memories for Rovers supporters young and old.
Former managers Frank Connor, Peter Hetherston and John McVeigh are also expected to attend, while current players Ryan Blackadder, Jason Dair and John Martin will also put aside their allegiance to East Fife for the day.
Organiser Ally Gourlay is seeking help to track down any Raith players who haven’t yet been invited, especially George McGeachie, Billy Gavine, Gordon Leitch and Charlie Elvin.
Any Raith players who have not yet been contacted or anyone who may know how to contact any others is asked to call Ally on 01592 753684 or 07904 542823 no later than tomorrow.
