PROFESSOR GORDON HEWITT, chairman of court at Abertay University, has been awarded a CBE.

Born and educated in Glasgow, Professor Hewitt divides his time between the US and Europe.

A leading consultant in corporate strategy, he was previously awarded an honorary doctorate by Abertay in recognition of his international reputation in the areas of competitive strategy and executive education.

His many academic awards include the title of honorary professor of faculty of social sciences at Glasgow University, where he started his career, and visiting professor of business strategy at Manchester Business School.

He has taught at many leading business schools in Europe and the States, including Michigan, Carnegie Mellon and Duke.

His book Economics Of The Market is a standard text in competitive theory and practice.

He has also represented Scotland as an international golfer.
