A DUNDEE COUPLE celebrated 65 years of happy marriage when they marked their sapphire wedding anniversary recently.
Jim McGregor (87) and his wife Cath (88) are both from Dundee and met whilst walking out on the Murraygate.
Mr McGregor volunteered for the air force in 1939 and the couple wed in 1941 at Dundee’s Russell Chapel. He was then transferred to the Air Ministry in London and the pair moved to the capital.
He was transferred to Egypt in 1942 and Cath moved back to Dundee. Mr McGregor joined his wife in the city when he left the air force just before the end of the second world war.
He went on to become a ceramic tiler, and a partner in tiling business Comart.
Mrs McGregor worked for Woolworth’s in the Murraygate until she retired in 1978.
They have one son, Roderic.
After retiring the couple enjoyed many years of travelling to their timeshare in Tenerife.
They received a telegram from the Queen and were also treated to a surprise visit by Lord Provost John Letford, bearing flowers.
