Raith concentrate on on-field matters

RAITH ROVERS are content to concentrate on matters on the field as their search for a new chairman continues, the club confirmed yesterday.

The Kirkcaldy outfit has been without a figurehead on the board since mid- November when David Sinton announced he was stepping down to pursue other business interests.

While the process of selecting a new chairman is likely to continue behind the scenes, directors at the club are happy to continue working jointly on a committee basis until the position is filled.

A statement from one of the club’s directors, Eric Drysdale, revealed that an announcement regarding a new chairman will be made in due course, although the status quo is set remain at Stark’s Park.

“The board of directors has agreed to continue without a chairman for the time being,” the statement confirmed.

“The directors are all working well together as a team, each with our own areas of primary responsibility, and whilst it is recognised that such an appointment is expected at some point, it is not a priority for now.”

At the time of Mr Sinton’s resignation, Raith had also been searching for a manager after the departure of Craig Levein to Dundee United.

Despite rumours that in-fighting over the board’s preferred choice of replacement caused him to go, Mr Sinton stressed that he had only taken on the role to steady the club in the first place, adding that he felt it wasn’t “fair” to be involved in selecting a new boss on that basis.

Former Hearts coach John McGlynn was subsequently installed as first-team boss.
