Anne Frank exhibition opened to public

A THREE-WEEK long festival which aims to examine social issues by using the life of Anne Frank during the Holocaust will be opened up to the public today.

The Anne Frank and You interactive festival was launched in Kirkcaldy by Chancellor Gordon Brown on Friday, but members of the public will finally get their chance to see the exhibition as part of a special preview day at two different venues today.

The preview events, running from 10.30am to 4.30pm, will be held at Kirkcaldy Museum and Art Gallery and in the atrium at Adam Smith College’s St Brycedale Campus.

Displays include a life-size replica of Anne’s room in the secret annexe of the Frank home in Amsterdam, as well as photographs taken by Otto Frank of his family, from the birth of his children to just before they were forced to go into hiding.

The festival has been brought to Fife after negotiations with the Anne Frank Trust and is just the second time it has ever been seen outside Holland.

The series of events, which will end on Holocaust Memorial Day on January 28. A formal opening of the exhibitions is due to take place tomorrow.
