SUPPORTERS OF Raith Rovers will be in for a treat next month when the Kirkcaldy club feature as part of a new BBC television series.

That Was The Team That Was, which will be shown on Friday, February 16, will tell the story of Raith’s historic Coca Cola Cup triumph in 1994, when the team defeated Celtic against all the odds in the final at Ibrox.

The programme has been in production since the middle of last year when club officials met researchers at Stark’s Park and handed over items of memorabilia, newspapers and photographs to mark the club’s amazing cup run.

The programme will feature several interviews with the then manager Jimmy Nicholl and many of the players who contributed to Raith’s success.

It will also feature footage of Raith’s foray into European competition in the Faroe Islands, Iceland and Germany the following season.

The new series of programmes about memorable footballing sides starts on the BBC on Friday, January 26, with Scotland, Hibs and Leeds United featured.
