O’Neill wants to change record

BRECHIN CITY have the chance to leapfrog STIRLING ALBION and grab second spot when the pair meet.

Both matches between the two this season have been close but each has ended in defeat for City, who felt they deserved something from the games.

“We are looking to change that,” said manager Michael O’Neill.

“There has been little in the two games and, although Stirling have a game in hand, we are looking to keep our run going and claim second place.

A run of fine form which has included three points against runaway league-leaders Morton, three successive clean sheets and seven goals, compared with a string of disappointing results for Stirling, has closed the gap to two points.

The upturn in fortune has been achieved without the luxury of a settled team.

Every week O’Neill is forced to change his line up because of absences and this week is no different.

Steven Ferguson is out through suspension, David White is completing a two-match suspension and John Ward is injured.

The good news is that Grant Johnson’s gradual return to fitness is continuing and new 17-year-old signing Chris Hughes is in the reckoning for a place in defence after a promising debut against St Johnstone in the midweek Forfarshire Cup game.

Also available is Kevin Byers, who picked up a rib injury midway through the Morton game and missed out last week.

Stirling are without injured striker Colin Cramb, and manager Allan Moore said, “This is a big game for both clubs and we have to be at our best. We need to start turning our chances into goals.”
