Baikie wants to build on win

AFTER ENDING their dismal eight-game run without a win last weekend, EAST FIFE will be looking to build some much-needed momentum in the promotion race when they entertain Elgin City this afternoon.

Last Saturday’s comfortable 3-0 success at Albion Rovers breathed new life into the Fifers’ stuttering play-off hopes, but manager Dave Baikie knows that victory will mean little if they can’t take full points from their next two fixtures.

Bottom club Elgin are first up today and Baikie hopes his side can continue their winning ways ahead of their trip to second-bottom East Stirling next weekend.

“Elgin had a horrendous start to the season but their form since then has been as good as many other teams,” he said.

“They will be a threat and we need to approach the game with the right attitude and go for it from the start.

“But the pressure is off the players and you can see the effect the win has had.”

Jason Dair and Jamie McGowan remain sidelined, while Tom Courts is also likely to miss out through injury.

However, Gary Kelly should return to the fold along with Neil Jablonski, who missed last week’s clash through suspension.
