A MAN was rushed to Ninewells Hospital last night after he appeared to have been stabbed and fell, or was thrown, from the first floor window of a flat in Hilltown, Dundee.
He is also understood to have suffered a heart attack as a result of the fall from the flat at 7 Whistler’s Way, off Ann Street.
Two other men, who are believed to have been involved in a disturbance at the property, are also understood to have required treatment for minor injuries.
The man who fell from the window remained in Ninewells Hospital overnight. His condition was described as serious but stable.
It is believed he suffered his injuries after becoming embroiled in a disturbance inside the property.
A pool of blood and one white training shoe lay on the pavement last night as officers carried out door-to-door inquiries in the area and forensic experts roped off Whistler’s Way and a stretch of pavement on Hilltown.
The window of the first floor flat, where the incident is believed to have taken place, remained open, with officers visibly working inside.
Residents looked on aghast at the commotion as police officers and paramedics arrived shortly before 6pm.
One shopkeeper, who does not wish to be named, said he saw police arrive in the Hilltown moments before the man fell from the first floor window covered in blood.
He said, “The man had a lot more blood covering him than you would expect to lose from that kind of fall.
“It looked to me as though he had been stabbed several times because there was blood everywhere—on his body, legs, arms and face.
The shopkeeper continued, “There were two ambulances outside the flats. I think one rushed away with the man who fell, but the other one remained outside for quite a while and seemed to be treating a couple of people.”
Another local businessman said he had seen a body fall from the first floor window.
He added, “There seemed to have been some sort of scuffle, there was a fair bit of commotion coming from the flat and when I went to my window to see what was going on I saw the man falling through the air.
“I don’t know if he fell or was pushed but it looked like he was certainly in a bad way.”
Ann Murray, who has lived in the Hilltown for more than 30 years, said she was disgusted to see further bloodshed in the area only a day after Hilltown murderer Alan Markie was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment for the murder of Shaun McBeath.
She said, “Whatever has happened it looks like there could be another tragedy in the area—t just seems to be never-ending.
“Look at all these kids hanging around here. They shouldn’t be seeing this sort of thing.”
Ms Murray described Whistler’s Way as a quiet close in the Hilltown, which was home to many young families.
She said, “There’s also the sheltered housing at Powrie Place next door. I dread to think how they’re all feeling tonight.”
Anyone who witnessed this incident is asked to contact the police on Dundee 223200 or speak to any police officer.
