Star signs up for charity dram-a

A ONE-OFF bottle of Famous Grouse whisky signed by Dame Judi Dench is set to get eBay bidders splashing out for Red Nose Day.

The unique bottle, which is personalised to read “The Famous Grouse BAFTAs 2007,” was signed by the sixth-time BAFTA award winning actress at this year’s awards party in London.

Dame Judi was originally known as one of the UK’s finest Shakespearian actors but achieved worldwide fame when she was Oscar nominated for her roles in Mrs Brown, Shakespeare In Love, Chocolat, Iris and Mrs Henderson Presents.

She is also now established as James Bond’s no-nonsense boss M and recently starred in Notes On A Scandal.

The whisky bottle signed by her was auctioned yesterday with the proceeds going towards helping vulnerable people in the UK and Africa.

A second bottle of whisky was also signed by a range of stars including Andy Serkis (Gollum from Lord Of The Rings), Dominic Cooper (Dakin from The History Boys), Deep Roy (the Oompaloompa from Charlie And The Chocolate Factory), Meredith Ostrum (Nico from the Factory Girl) and Ruby Wax.
