A REUNION concert will help raise cash for leukaemia research two years after a courageous mother began her battle with the disease.
The one-off event marks the end of a traumatic time for Vanessa Love, who amazed doctors by giving birth to healthy twins despite her illness.
The mother of four, from Westhill near Aberdeen, turned down chemotherapy when she discovered she was pregnant—just four days after being dealt the devastating blow.
When she went into labour five months later, she was forced to undergo emergency surgery to correct a twisted bowel.
Twins Rohan and Blake will celebrate their second birthdays in May.
Husband Charlie, a computer teacher at the city’s Cults Academy, decided to mark the end of the testing two years with a party.
Mr Love (38) has called upon musicians he shared the limelight with in the mid-1990s for the fund-raiser.
His former band, which performed under the names The Dreaming and Tinderbox, enjoyed a successful run and supported Runrig, Travis, Texas and Big Country, among others.
The former front man said, “I was trying to think of a way to raise money and say thank you to all the people who helped us.
“Not only will it raise cash for Leukaemia Research, but it will give us all a chance to have a great time.”
Mrs Love (33) still requires maintenance treatment but should come off that within six months.
The gig will be held at the Lemon Tree, West North Street, Aberdeen, on September 1.
