THE RAF has paid tribute to a young serviceman based in Leuchars who was killed in a road accident in Angus at the weekend.
Kevin Trotter (24), of Gagiebank, Wellbank, died after the car he was driving collided with a lorry on the B978 Dundee-Kirkbuddo road, between Kellas and Wellbank at around 6.15am on Saturday.
It is understood Mr Trotter, of 111 Squadron, was on his way to the RAF base in Fife when the accident occurred.
Mr Trotter had moved to Wellbank a few weeks previously, shortly after getting married. He and his wife were expecting a baby.
An RAF statement said, “The loss of Senior Aircraftman Kevin Trotter, an avionics technician on 111 (Fighter) Squadron, will be felt enormously by all those who knew him.
“Kevin had a particularly enthusiastic ‘can-do’ approach to life that perfectly suited the ethos and spirit of the Royal Air Force.
“He was in every respect a model airman.
“Kevin had a promising career ahead of him, recently applying to extend his time in the service, and his sense of humour, camaraderie and ability to get along with everyone made him a hugely popular member of the squadron.”
