THE SWALLOW Hotel brand is to continue its long association with Dundee, in a deal securing the future of several hotels in Tayside and Fife.
The collapse of the London & Edinburgh Hotels Group in September put a question mark over the brand’s future.
However, Crerar Hotels said yesterday it has bought the Swallow name for an undisclosed sum and is to operate 26 of the former chain’s hotels, including the Swallow Dundee at Kingsway West, under the original brand.
The Fishers Hotel at Pitlochry, Old Manor Hotel in Fife and Thainstone House Hotel at Inverurie will also continue to trade under the Swallow name as part of the agreement.
Crerar Hotels will operate the new chain on behalf of REIT Asset Management, who bought the hotels from the receivers.
Paddy Crerar, chief executive office of Crerar Hotels, said, “Swallow has been a successful brand for more than 30 years.
“Like all household names there are inevitable peaks and troughs but over time the qualities of the brand have remained steady.
“The recent issues with Swallow Hotels related to the financial model which was unrelated to the actual hotel product.”
