Fans’ Polish chant for Saints

THE CRY at McDiarmid Park on Saturday was “Dawajcie Swieci!” as a group of Polish children sought to boost St Johnstone’s promotion efforts.

The chant, meaning “Come on the Saints” could become a regular one in Perth after the youngsters from the Frederick Chopin Saturday Polish School were invited by the club to take in Saturday’s crunch game with Livingston.

Their day out was organised by Saints in partnership with RIMAP (Perth and Kinross Racist Incidents Multi-Agency Panel) and Show Racism the Red Card campaign.

With the league campaign on a knife-edge and a possible Scottish Cup final place still up for grabs, the added atmosphere was welcomed by all connected with the Perth side, despite the ultimately disappointing result.

Saints lost 2-1, after goalkeeper Kevin Cuthbert was sent off.
