Glass prepared for Hibees to use veto

STEPHEN GLASS believes he will be spared a club versus club battle when Dunfermline face Hibs on Saturday.

The midfielder has become a fixture in the Pars first team since joining on loan from the Hibees in January and manager Stephen Kenny would love to have him available for the East End Park encounter.

However, Glass admitted, “I am expecting to be told by Hibs to sit this one out.

“It will be a wee bit frustrating to miss a game at such an important stage of the season, and it is always better to be on the park than in the stand.

“However, as a loan player you anticipate things like this happening and it would be an understandable decision on Hibs’ part.”

Pars boss Kenny added, “If I could play him I would, but we will have to wait and see what Hibs say.”

Meanwhile, the Irishman revealed that defender Phil McGuire had returned to his sick bed after volunteering to play in the weekend defeat at Motherwell.

“Phil had not trained all week because of a virus,” said Kenny.

“He declared himself fit to play at Motherwell, given that we already had Scott Wilson suspended.

“Now he has returned to bed so we will see how he is in the next few days.”

Kenny, who also has Stephen Simmons nursing a foot knock, was still bemoaning the way the Pars fell out of the game on Saturday.

“I thought we played very well in the first half and were controlling the game at that stage,” he added.

“We had a lot of confidence going into the second period but didn’t do ourselves justice.”
