Rovers out to make amends

RAITH ROVERS boss John McGlynn believes his side can use the lessons learned from their lacklustre weekend performance to great effect when Ayr United visit Stark’s Park this evening.

Saturday’s goal-less draw with Stranraer ultimately took the Kirkcaldy club a point nearer a play-off place —but with third place still to play for, the Rovers manager is looking for an improved showing, especially in front of their own supporters.

“We will be going over the video analysis to see why we couldn’t quite break them down, how we could have done it better,” he said.

“Saturday was one bad performance and we can’t crucify ourselves over it.

“The whole thing didn’t work but we will dust ourselves down and come out fighting on Tuesday night.”

Victory over the sixth-placed Honest Men would take tonight’s visitors out of the play-off equation and move Rovers 13 points clear in fourth spot, with just four games remaining.

Ayr could give a start to on-loan striker Fraser McLaren but are without Martyn Campbell and Gareth Wardlaw.

Newly-appointed manager Neil Watt said, “I am learning as much as I can about the players and this will be a test for them.”
