FIFE MOTOR racer Andrew Kirkaldy’s Renault team took victory in the season opener at Brands Hatch.

AKA Cobra driver Jeremy Metcalfe finished first in the first of two races on the opening day of the 2007 Formula Renault Championship.

Team-mate Adam Chrisodoulou followed closely in third place, before taking second place in the second race.

Kirkaldy, from St Andrews, said, “We’ve had a very positive weekend and I was very happy that we took the first win of the year.

“The second qualifying session was a bit of a washout for us but we got a second place out of race two so that was good.

“All in all it was a successful event for our first outing as AKA Cobra and I’m happy with our start to the season.”
