PATIENT CARE at Victoria and Forth Park Hospitals in Fife has been boosted by £90,000 thanks to the WRVS.

The money is the year’s profits from the shop and cafe at the former and the shop at the latter, and the money was handed over to NHS Fife yesterday.

Victoria will get £80,000 and Forth Park £10,000.

WRVS manageress Alison Hutton said, “We’d like to say a big thank you to all our volunteers and the people who support us.”

NHS Fife operational division chairman David Stewart said, “We are delighted to accept this donation from the WRVS.

“It is a fantastic amount and a wonderful contribution to both Victoria and Forth Park hospitals.

“I would like to thank the organisation for the work they do for patients, visitors and staff.

“The majority of WRVS staff are made up of volunteers and we really appreciate them giving up their time to provide the service—given the amount of this donation, it certainly proves that the service is well run and used regularly.

“I enjoy using the cafe facilities at Victoria and meeting with the WRVS staff; they are very hardworking and a valuable addition to the hospitals.”

At yesterday’s handover, long service certificates and medals were presented to almost 40 staff who have worked with the WRVS for between five and 25 years by the organisation’s head of operations, Simon Branscombe.
