Seminar for genealogists

AS PART of Scotland’s Tartan Day celebrations, Perth and Kinross Council ran a seminar at Perth Museum yesterday, designed to bring together all those involved or interested in ancestral tourism and genealogy.

There has been a recent upsurge in interest from people across the world looking to research their Scottish roots.

With over 50 million people across the globe able to lay claim to Scottish ancestry, the scope and potential of this market in tourism terms is huge.

VisitScotland research has shown that, because of their strong emotional connection with Scotland, ancestral tourists tend not to remove Scotland from the list of places they want to visit. Instead they want to return time after time to follow up leads.
