Angus youngsters keeping busy with beautiful game

FOOTBALL COACHES have achieved their goal of encouraging young folk in Angus to be active during the Easter holidays.

Children between three and 12 have been honing their ball skills this week in a series of football sessions across the district.

Thirty have been attending classes led by coach Lee Harrison at Kirrie Thistle’s junior pitch, where he has put them through a variety of drills and circuits as well as helping them with passing, heading and ball control, topped off with games.

The scheme has also been running at Arbroath Sports Centre, attracting 16 youngsters, and Carnoustie, where 17 have trained.

Lee said yesterday, “The youngsters have been superb and their enthusiasm can’t be faulted.”

Next week’s sporting programme will switch to Monifieth High School, Forfar’s Lochside pitches and the town’s Lochside Leisure Centre and Montrose Sports Centre.
