THE RETIRAL of Kathleen Ritchie (pictured) after 19 years as an SNP councillor was recognised by her Montrose branch colleagues yesterday.
Party president and Euro MP Ian Hudghton presented Mrs Ritchie with an engraved photograph frame and thanked her on behalf of the branch.
“As a former council colleague I know what goes into being a councillor and this is only a wee token in recognition of all the hard graft and effort Kitty has put into her work,” he said.
“We wish her well in ‘grannyhood’.”
Mrs Ritchie will continue to be actively involved in the Montrose and Hillside community she has represented on Angus Council.
“I am grateful for the support of the branch and thank everyone who helped me as a councillor,” she said.
“I have received lots of kinds words and letters in the last few weeks.”
