Hidden treasure at Scone Palace

Pirates Captain Hogwash (left) and Slim Jim McCorquindale entertain the visiting children.

PIRATES SEARCHED for ancient hidden treasure during a weekend of Easter adventures at Scone Palace.

Timbers were well and truly shivered as Captain Jack Hogwash and cabin boy Davie pulled out all the stops in a bid to find loot buried by monks in 1296 when King Edward’s men raided in search of the Stone of Destiny.

The fearsome duo were armed with the remains of a map and a trusty compass but relied on help from visiting youngsters in their tireless bid to locate the elusive gold.

Children joining Hogwash’s crew were delighted to help him find the ancient wooden chest and there were numerous pieces of eight to go around.

There were also plenty of Jolly Rogers, and thankfully no need to walk the plank, as a number of awards were handed out to the best dressed pirates.
