Pedestrian dies following Fife road accident

A PEDESTRIAN died yesterday after a road accident in Cowdenbeath.

Alexander Ewing (80) was taken to Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline after the accident but died from his injuries.

Mr Ewing, a retired steel worker from the town’s Raith Avenue, sustained head and leg injuries when he was involved in a collision with a car shortly before 3pm in Broad Street.

Police are investigating the accident and are appealing for witnesses to get in touch on 01592 251111.

The road was closed for several hours while officers examined the scene.

Earlier this year, a man died in hospital after being seriously injured in another accident in Broad Street.

Christopher Gilruth (55) sustained multiple injuries when he was involved in a collision with a car outside Joe’s Fish Bar on December 30 of last year.
