Youngsters help spring clean beach

YOUNGSTERS FROM Broughty Ferry gave the local beach a spring clean yesterday.

The event was one of many taking place through a nationwide scheme supported by local coastal partnerships in helping to actively address the problem of beach litter.

The Tay Estuary Forum, based at Dundee University, enlisted the help of children from Broughty Ferry After-School Care Association.

“Beach litter affects all areas of our shorelines and with ever-increasing numbers visiting the coast, this is a fantastic opportunity to encourage children, as well as the wider community, to play an active role in improving the condition of their beaches,” said Laura Booth, project officer for the Tay Estuary Forum.

Throughout April several beach cleans will take place across the Fife coast.
