Dyron DaAl admitted yesterday that his future is up in the air.
He revealed, though, that he aims to remain in Scotland beyond the current season.
With his Pittodrie contract up this summer, Daal’s finding form while on loan to Dundee could not have been better timed for the Dutchman.
But up to now at least there has been no indication he will be handed the chance to stay at Pittodrie or offered an opportunity elsewhere, including Dens.
“Jimmy Calderwood has spoken to my agent but as far as an offer is concerned there’s been nothing yet,” said Daal.
“I’ll just have to wait and see what develops and whether Aberdeen or anybody else speaks to my agent.
“I’m not too concerned about the situation because I just want to play football at the moment.
“I don’t want to think about anything else.
“But I don’t see myself finished in Scotland. I want to stay here.
“It’s been good so far for me at Dundee.
“Performance-wise the last home game wasn’t one of my best but I scored again so I could still take something positive from it.
“And my confidence since coming here has become sky high.
“Playing 90 minutes, scoring goals again and being important for the team is what you want as a striker.”
Daal reckons the Dark Blues can build on this first campaign under Alex Rae.
“I think that if Dundee sign some more quality players then they can challenge for the title next year.
“And I believe the manager is ambitious enough to do that.
“This is a club with a big history. Even in the position we are in just now there are still big crowds coming to the games. There’s no reason why it can’t get back to the SPL.”
Daal, who took part in a Show Racism the Red Card seminar with local primary school children yesterday, is hopeful of being fit to face Hamilton this weekend after limping out of the defeat at Partick.
“It is looking good,” he said.
“I’m resting at present but will start running on Thursday and if there’s no reaction to that I should be able to play on Saturday.”
Dundee won’t be signing Shaun Fagan, who was training with them two weeks ago and has since been freed by Motherwell.
However, they are still keeping an eye on Jamie Winter. Boss Alex Rae watched Winter in action for Aberdeen’s reserves yesterday.
